The riders of the apocalypse are a biblical reference from Revelations, pertaining
to the end of civilization. Of the four riders that come to end the world, Famine is
the Third. In "his" role, he is symbolized by the color black (a symbol of death and famine)
and brings with him a scarcity of food, higher prices, and hunger.

Such a powerful, but unkind character, I tried to portray her with the cold, stark
intensity with which I would imagine her to appear
